Fruits and Cancer

GUYABANO or Soursop (Annona muricata): The Guyabano/Graviola tree, its fruit, leaves, bark is a natural cancer cell killer. A scientific research in 1976 shows that one chemical present in the fruit is 10,000 times more potent than the chemotherapeutic drug Adriamycin. Protect your immune system and avoid deadly infections. Feel stronger and healthier throughout the course of the treatment. Boost your energy and improve your outlook on life. The source of this information is just as stunning. With many laboratory tests conducted since the 1970’s, those tests revealed was nothing short of mind numbing.Extracts from the tree were shown to: Effectively target and kill malignant cells in 12 types of cancer, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer. The tree compounds proved to be up to stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug! What’s more, unlike chemotherapy, laboratory tests shows that the compound extracted from the Guyabano tree selectively hunts down and kills only cancer cells. It does not harm healthy cells! Various parts of the tree–including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit and fruit-seeds–have been used for centuries by medicine men and native Indians in South America to treat heart disease, asthma, liver problems and arthritis. The National Cancer Institute performed the first scientific research in 1976. The results showed that Guyabano’s “leaves and stems were found effective in attacking and destroying malignant cells.Since 1976, laboratory tests has proven that Guyabano to be an immensely potent cancer killer in 20 independent laboratory tests.A study published in the Journal of Natural Products, stated that one chemical in Guyabano (Annona Muricata) was found to selectively kill colon cancer cells at “10,000 times the potency of (the commonly used chemotherapy drug) Adriamycin. The most significant part of the report is that Guyabano (Annona Muricata) was shown to selectively target the cancer cells, leaving healthy cells untouched. Unlike chemotherapy, which indiscriminately targets all actively reproducing cells (such as stomach and hair cells), causing the often devastating side effects of nausea and hair loss in cancer patients.A study at Purdue University recently found that leaves from the Guyabano tree killed cancer cells among six human cell lines and were especially effective against prostate, pancreatic and lung cancers.  http://www.facebook.com/guyabano.fruit

CARROTS : In carrots that have not yet been identified or tested
for cancer-fighting abilities. It may be that we do not yet know the best cancer-fighting nutrient in carrots, but based on many testimonials and some books, carrots may be the best cancer-fighting vegetable of all."In a review of 206 human studies, carrots consistently emerged as one of the top cancer-fighting foods. The power of carrots lies in the group of pigments called carotenoids (beta-carotene is among this group), which give them their orange color."Source For Quote No Longer Exists.

Vegetables Juices
The RAW vegetables you should focus on are: carrots, cabbage, green asparagus, broccoli, red beets (i.e. beetroot), beet tops, cauliflower and related vegetables. Peppers also have cancer fighting substances. The spice turmeric can be added as well.
AS A MINIMUM, the vegetable juice should include:

          1) Carrot juice (1 to 2 quarts/liters),

          2) Beet juice (from at least 2 red beets, with their beet tops)

          3) A significant amount of cruciferous vegetables including: broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower

(this is for both the cancer and the critical protection of the liver)

Important Note: Beetroot can cause the urine of a person to turn red. Thus, if you take beetroot and your urine turns red, it is not necessarily blood in the urine.A small and decreasing amount of fruit juices which contain very little glucose can be added for taste (more will be said about this issue below). Not all vegetables can be eaten raw, but the ones above can be eaten raw or juiced. You can also EAT any of these vegetables during your treatment to get bulk and fiber.

The known cancer-killing nutrients in fruits:
Raw pineapple (bromelain and pexoxidase),
Whole purple grapes with seeds and skins (more than a dozen, see Grape Cure article),
Apricot seeds (laetrile),
Strawberries, red raspberries, black raspberries (laetrile and ellagic acid),
Blueberries (ellagic acid, anthrocyanins, OPC),
At least 80% or above of the fruit juice should come from fruits with known cancer-fighting abilities.

"LEMON" - Kills Cancer Cells
Lemon (Citrus) is a miraculous product to kill cancer cells. It is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy.
Several substances occurring naturally in citrus fruits have been found to have cancer-fighting potential in scientific studies, of which the two most promising appear to be limonoids and pectin.

Limonoids, a class of natural compounds found mainly in the skin and seeds of citrus fruits, are being studied as both a preventative and a treatment for cancer. For example, research has shown that particular limonoids can inhibit the spread of breast cancer cells in vitro. Further research is needed to determine their clinical effectiveness in human beings.

Modified citrus pectin, derived from the natural pectin found in the pulp and peel of citrus fruits, has been shown in animal and in vitro studies to reduce the metastasization of cancer cells. Again, further research is needed to prove their clinical effectiveness in humans.

It goes without saying that lemons and other citrus fruits are nutritious and health-promoting in myriad ways, so while the jury may still be out on exactly how and to what extent they're effective in preventing and treating cancer, they should certainly be regarded as an essential component of a healthy diet.

RASPBERRY
Raspberries make the list of top cancer-fighting fruits for their high concentration of ellagic acid. In clinical studies to date, ellagic acid has been shown to induce apoptosis or "cell suicide" in cancer cells. This compound exists and retains it strong anti-oxidant properties whether the raspberry fruit is fresh, frozen or even cooked. Ellagic acid is most concentrated in the seeds, so seedless raspberry jam doesn't count. A ½ cup of raspberries provides a good dose of ellagic acid with only 32 calories.

In addition, raspberries contain anthocyanidins, a powerful antioxidant that gives berries their bright colors. They are also high in fiber which is important for prevention of colon cancer.

Although raspberries have one of the highest concentrations of ellagic acid, other berries that contain ellagic acid (and anthocyandins) are blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries. Pomegranate seeds also contain the cancer-fighting ellagic acid.

KIWI
Vitamin-C has long been recognized for its antioxidant and cancer preventing properties. Vitamin Chelps protect cells against cancer by neutralizing free radicals. Although oranges come to mind when one thinks of Vitamin C, kiwi fruit actually has a higher concentration. The yellow kiwi fruit has an even higher concentration of Vitamin C than the more common green kiwi fruit.

Kiwis also are a good cancer prevention fruit because they contain vitamin E. Vitamin E, another anti-oxidant is usually found in calorie-dense nuts and oils. However, you can get Vitamin E in Kiwis for much less calories. Other key nutrients cancer-fighting nutrients in kiwis include folate, carotenoids and fiber.

Once an exotic fruit, Kiwis are readily found in grocery stores today and are best enjoyed fresh. Just cut in half, spoon out of the skin and enjoy this sweet and tart fruit that prevents cancer.

PAPAYA
Papaya is a great fruit that prevents cancer because it contains lycopene. Also predominantly found in tomatoes, lycopene has been shown to prevent cancer, especially prostate cancer. Papayas also are one of the best sources of the cartenoid beta-crypoxanthin, which recent research suggests can protect against lung cancer.

Papaya is also a good source of Vitamin C and Folic acid, two other cancer prevention substances.

Papaya is available year-round and makes great smoothies. It also makes a tasty salsa to top grilled fish.

CRANBERRIES
Although cranberries are most frequently associated with treating urinary tract infections, cranberries also hold great promise as a cancer-fighting fruit. Cranberries contain unique proanthocyanidins, a phytochemical that studies have shown to be toxic to a variety of cancer cell lines. Although more research is needed in humans, clinical animal studies on cranberry phytochemicals have shown apoptosis (cancer cell suicide), reduction in cancer cell proliferation, and blockage of tumor growth. Cranberries are also high in vitamin C, a good antioxidant.

For cancer prevention, the whole berry is preferable to juice. So don't limit your cranberry intake to just the holidays! Freeze extra packages during the cranberry season (October-December) to make sure you have this cancer fighting fruit on hand. Because of their tartness, cranberries are hard to eat straight, so mix them with oranges, pineapples or fruit juices to cut the tartness. Dried cranberries in salads or whole grains are another great way to get cranberries in your diet when they are out of season.

CHERRY
Order your next ice-cream Sunday with a cherry on top! Cherries contain perillyl alcohol, which is being closely studied for its ability to induce cancerous tumor cell death. Cherries are also an excellent source of anthocyanins (the phytochemical that gives cherries and other fruits, especially berries their bright colors). The darker the cherry, the better the concentration of these anthocyanins.

On top of that, Cherries have quercetin, cox inhibitors, ellagic acid and high levels of melatonin. The presence of all these substances make cherries a great fruit that prevents cancer.

Cherries are only in season for a short time and are delicious fresh. Dried cherries are an excellent alternative when fresh cherries are out of season. They make a great substitute in any recipe that calls for raisins or other dried fruit, and are good in salads.
